Matt Johnson / Project 7

Why Matt Johnson trusts Flytex on tired legs

One full-distance triathlon. Then another the next day.

Project 7 set Matt Johnson a demanding goal: seven Ironman-distance triathlons in seven days, raising funds for veterans through ValorFit. He completed six full distances in six days, then went as far as he could on day seven.

The difficulty he described to Flytex was sore muscles and aching joints, with another day of effort ahead. He wanted support he could wear while moving. At the finish of the challenge, a Flytex sleeve was still on his leg.

Your training may cover fewer miles, but the need is familiar: knees that feel supported, comfortable movement and a way to care for tired legs between sessions.

Experience earned over long days

Two runs across Texas taught him what repeated effort feels like.

Matt had crossed Texas on foot twice before taking on Project 7. Both runs raised money for veterans. Preparing for challenges like these makes training and recovery a recurring part of his life.

For Project 7, each complete distance meant swimming, cycling and running a marathon. How his legs felt carried into the next day’s effort.

Matt told Flytex that the sleeves’ compression and joint support helped him cope with those consecutive days. He felt they made a meaningful difference in getting through the week.

What matters for your training

You want to enjoy the session, with less discomfort on your mind.

A sleeve needs to do more than feel snug when you first put it on. It needs to support the area that bothers you, feel comfortable as your knee bends and suit the activity you want to keep doing.

Matt’s reason for wearing Flytex was practical: compression and joint support when soreness made repeated effort difficult.

Flytex V2 combines a shaped knee panel with compression extending along the leg. That is how one sleeve brings joint support and leg compression together.

The V2 design, explained

Feel supported where training asks the most.

01Help ease knee discomfort during activity

Flytex V2 is designed to help relieve knee discomfort with close-fitting compression. Its shaped panel sits over the knee, with support extending above and below the joint. Continuous contact follows you as you bend and stride, for the supported feel Matt valued during his challenge.

02Make compression part of recovery

The long knit reaches from the thigh to the calf, applying compression along the leg. Flytex designs this coverage to support circulation and post-exercise recovery. It brings compressive support to the muscles around the knee as well as the joint itself, giving tired legs a close-fitting, supported feel.

03Move freely without bulky support

The thin, flexible knit follows your leg without rigid hinges or straps. Your knee can bend through a running stride while the fabric stays close to it. You get thigh-to-calf coverage in a sleeve you can move in.

Support for your weekend run counts, too.

Matt wore Flytex during an exceptional challenge. Your reason might be much closer to home: the weekend run you look forward to, or the training routine you want to keep making time for.

Choose support around the activity you do. Start with a comfortable fit, give yourself time to get used to the sleeves and keep rest and recovery in your plan.

Comfort starts with the right fit.

Measure around the widest part of your upper thigh and use the current size chart. Your thigh measurement is a better starting point than your shorts size.

Follow the Flytex fit guide, or ask contact@getflytex.co if you are between sizes. When trying them on, the sleeves should feel supportive without digging in or restricting movement.
