Meniscus / The role and limits of a sleeve

Meniscus injury?
Support that
moves with you.

Cleared to return to sport and use a soft sleeve? Give your knee a close, supportive fit that follows each bend. Flytex V2 combines an enveloping compression knit with a silicone grip band to help keep the sleeve in place, without a rigid frame or straps to adjust.

What can a sleeve do
after a meniscus injury?

When you are cleared to start moving again, you want your knee to feel supported through each bend. That is where the way a sleeve fits becomes important.

The menisci are cartilage cushions inside the knee that help distribute load and contribute to stability. A sleeve works around the outside: its stretch fabric applies compression against the leg to create a snug, held-in-place feel. It does not repair the cartilage.

V2’s supportive feel comes from the way its compression knit wraps your leg. The continuous sleeve extends from the upper thigh across the knee to the calf, maintaining close contact while the fabric bends with you. That gives you flexible textile support for permitted activity, without a hard frame around the joint.

01 / How V2 delivers its supportive feel

Feel supported.
Keep your knee free to bend.

The compression knit creates the close-fitting hold. The enveloping cut carries it from thigh to calf, while the silicone band helps keep the sleeve positioned. Together, these details give V2 its supportive fit during movement.

  1. Feel held around the knee.

V2’s stretch knit applies compression against the knee and surrounding leg. That close contact creates the held-in-place feel, while the extended cut wraps the thigh and calf in the same continuous sleeve.

  2. Help keep your support where you put it.

The silicone grip band grips around the upper thigh to help resist downward slip. Combined with the right size, it helps keep the sleeve positioned as your leg bends and straightens.

  3. Bend without a rigid frame.

The lightweight, flexible fabric follows the leg through movement. With no hinges or straps to adjust, V2 gives you pull-on support that fits into your training kit for the activities you have been cleared to resume.

02 / The limit that makes it flexible

V2 won’t lock your knee.
That’s why it bends with you.

A sleeve cannot provide a rigid brace’s mechanical restraint. When your clinician says that restraint is unnecessary and clears you for sport with a soft sleeve, V2’s frameless design becomes a practical advantage: a supportive fit with room to bend.

When movement is the goal

Choose support that follows you.

For permitted training, V2’s flexible knit follows each bend instead of setting a fixed range of motion. You keep the snug, supportive feel of a sleeve, with no hard frame or fastening straps around the knee.

That is the reason to choose V2 when soft support suits your care plan: a supportive wrap from thigh to calf in a garment you can move in.

When restraint is prescribed

A sleeve cannot do a brace’s job.

Some braces are prescribed to limit movement or provide specific mechanical support. V2 has no rigid frame, cannot reliably restrict twisting, and must not replace prescribed support without your clinician’s approval.

A supportive feel does not prove the meniscus has healed, protect it from another injury, or clear you to increase training. Follow the activity limits in your care plan.

For your individual injury: treatment depends on the tear’s type, size and location, as well as your symptoms. Some tears can heal or be repaired; a sleeve does not determine that outcome or replace rehabilitation. Seek prompt medical advice for a locked knee, inability to bear weight, or marked swelling.

03 / Make the fit work for you

Start with your thigh measurement, not your clothing size.

Because the top of Flytex V2 sits around the thigh, the guide uses upper-thigh circumference. Measuring only around the kneecap gives you a different number.

If you're between sizes: choose the smaller size for a firmer fit, or the larger size for greater comfort and extended wear.

A firmer fit should not hurt. Remove the sleeve if it causes pain, numbness, skin irritation or a color change, and seek advice. Fabric and silicone contact may not suit every wearer.

  1. Measure the widest part of the upper thigh.

Stand naturally. Keep a flexible tape level against bare skin, without pulling it tight.

  2. Check both legs and the unit.

Write down inches or centimeters. Do not assume both thighs need the same recommendation.

  3. Use the current Flytex V2 chart.

The detailed guide includes a measurement illustration, the published ranges and a comfort-first size adviser.

A few questions before you choose.

Can Flytex V2 repair a torn meniscus?

Flytex V2 is a compression garment, not a meniscus-repair treatment. Whether a tear may heal or needs treatment depends on the injury. Follow your clinician’s advice rather than using the feel of a sleeve as evidence that the injury has healed.

Does feeling supported mean I can run or train again?

No. Comfort or a supportive feel is not clearance to return to sport. The activity and progression that are appropriate for you depend on your injury and care plan.

Can I choose the smaller size for a firmer fit?

If you are between sizes, the smaller size offers a firmer fit; the larger size prioritizes comfort and extended wear. Start with the measurement and the detailed Flytex fit guide. Do not wear a sleeve that causes pain, numbness or skin irritation.
